St Georges Yuletide Supper

It was decided to hold a St. George’s event in January as there is always so much going on in November and December leading up to Christmas but we still wanted turkey and all the trimmings!

Where else other than the British Club could oblige?

Thirty guests turned up to taste the array of wonderful Christmas fayre which meant we all ate too much (what’s new?) with many of us sampling the mulled wine to give a real festive feeling to the evening.

Simon Bradwell had put together a fun table quiz over which Abbie Evans took control. The quiz was won by a HUGE team (we should have stated ‘No conferring’ at the beginning but never mind) who had to share the bottle of Famous Grouse but it created a lot of laughter as well as groans when the answers were revealed.

Becky McManus sold many raffle tickets but due to the closeness in colour, Marion Causton thought she had won first prize however the bottle of gin was only in her hands a short while before the true winner, Sylvie Phillips, came forward. Mai pen rai Marion! There were plenty of mysterious, colourfully wrapped cubed prizes which Barry had persuaded Gale she could not do without so 10 of the guests went away with a British Club Christmas mug – they were thrilled!

It was a really pleasant way to spend an evening, great food, good company and plenty to drink – what more could a person ask for? Thanks once more to the British Club staff for taking such good care of St. George’s Society members and friends.
