We had fantastic sponsorship for the Ball so were able to make sizeable donations to the People Eye Care Foundation, Bangkok Breast Cancer, Karen Hilltribes Trust and the Orphaned Deaf children’s party so at least we kept up our charitable tradition.
As you can imagine, I cannot organise a Ball without more committee members so in place of the annual Ball which is the main fund raiser for Thai charities, this year the Bangkok St. George’s Society is holding a celebration day at the British Club on Saturday, 26 April 2008. With the assistance of Barry Osborne at the British Club and Sarah Glaze, this event will be just as great but far less stressful to organise. Once again Paul Jackson will be DJ and all ages are welcome as we believe that it is important to include the younger generation so that the patriots of the future can start to appreciate and celebrate their English heritage and traditions. I do hope you will support this event and look forward to seeing many of you there.
The planning for the Inter Societies Golf weekend is well under way with Andy Flynn keeping everything under control. The complete details will be advised as soon as they are finalised.
If you are interested in joining the Society or have any ideas for future events, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for continuing to support the Society and do not forget to wear your rose on 23 April.
