Ray is a retired teacher, who has worked mainly in the UK, but latterly in Malawi, Cairo and Bangkok.  Ray has always enjoyed playing sport, has played cricket for Yorkshire, football for Scarborough 2nd team and dabbled with squash, tennis and is now addicted to golf.

Ray also enjoys participating in stage musicals, he claims, not as a star but building a part from the chorus, and says he requires much encouragement.

Besides Ray's current position as Golf Convenor for the Bangkok St Georges Society, his other responsibilities include:

• running the Wednesday morning Midweekers golf group
• arranging the prizes for the British Club Golf Section
• writing the golf report for Outpost
